About Cabonne Council

Pronounced Ca-bon, the Council derived its name when three shires in the area amalgamated. A name was needed that did not give any bias to any of these areas and so the name Cabonne was chosen, an aboriginal word meaning large.

Today Cabonne Council, also known as "Cabonne Country - Australia's Food Basket" is a rapidly progressing leading rural shire.

The main Administration Office for Council is in Molong. The Environmental Services and Finance & Corporate Services departments of Council are also at the Molong office. While the Engineering Services department is at Cudal.
