Rainwater Tank Rebates Now Available

The Wellington Blayney Cabonne (WBC) Alliance is encouraging residents to take advantage of the rebate that is now available for the installation of any new rainwater storage system for residential properties in NSW.

The rebates are being funded from the NSW Government's $310 million Climate Change Fund, which is helping business, households and government save energy and water.

Speaking on behalf of the WBC Alliance, the General Manager of Central Tablelands Water, Mr Tony Perry, advises that the rebate varies between $150 and $1500 depending on tank size and whether it is plumbed to the toilet and washing machine.  Eligiblity for a rebate is as follows:

  • The tank(s) must have a minimum 2000-litre capacity and be purchased in full and installed between 1 July 2007 and 30 June 2009.
  • Households not connected to the mains supply are eligibity for a rebate for the purchase of the tank only.
  • Rainwater tanks installed to comply with BASIX (The Building Sustainability Index) for new homes, major renovations or a pool installation are not eligible for a rebate.

Further information can be obtained from the administration offices of Wellington, Blayney or Cabonne Councils or Central Tablelands Water.  An application form can be downloaded at the link below.
