Cabonne Community Plan 2025
Council is required by the Department of Local Government to develop a Long Term Strategic Plan for the Cabonne local government area. Council has committed to make this a Cabonne centered plan - not just a plan for a plans sake. Work has commenced on this project which we have titled the Cabonne Community Plan 2025 (CCP2025) and a Project Management Plan has been adopted by council
The Cabonne Community Plan 2025 is about preparing a shared vision for our community. One which will shape Cabonne's preferred future taking a long-term view of planning over twenty or more years. It's about retaining the things Council and the residents of Cabonne love and creating the things we want for Cabonne's and each individual village's preferred future. It's also about identifying key strengths and weaknesses and building upon Cabonne's unique features; those which set Cabonne apart from other cities, towns and villages.
Council's Economic Development Manager is steering this project and has undertaken extensive community consultation with Progress Associations, schools, businesses and residents. Surveys were formulated and distributed, the results of which will be analysed by mid August. This is the most extensive consultation process Council has every completed and a huge amount of data will be analysed to provide the most accurate results for the development of the Cabonne Community Plan 2025.
Further consultation on the plan will take place later this year when all the responses have been evaluated, so stay tuned.
Animals on Bikes Project
The Cumnock Progress Association has embarked on a creative rail project titled "Animals on Bikes" which involves art sculptures being placed in the paddocks along Obley Road. The project involves a competition to engage individuals and organisations in the surrounding towns to create art sculptures for placement on the Obley Road. The competition will be open until September 2009 and entrants will have nine months to complete their paddock masterpiece. The project has attracted sponsorship from a variety of sources and Council is supporting the project by encouraging staff from the Molong and Cudal Workshops to enter the competition with Council donating old and scrap material.
