Youth of the Month August

The Youth of the Month for August 2009 is William Clark of Mullion Creek

William is currently in Year 11 at James Sheahan High School and a casual employee at Coffee Club in Orange. William’s conscientious approach to his studies have seen him gain a number of outstanding achievements both at school and in the local community.

Scholastic Achievements

  • Credits, Distinctions and High Distinctions in UNSW Mathematics, Science and English competitions
  • School Representative in Regional Science Olympics
  • Participant in UNSW Gerric Programme for gifted and talented students (Science)
  • Finalist (3rd place) in Regional CWA speaking competition

Community Involvement

  • Volunteer (weekly) Orange Blood Bank
  • R.F.S. – Volunteer Fire Fighter for Mullion Creek Brigade

Leadership Skills & Abilities

  • Duke of Edinburgh – Bronze (Trek Leader)
  • Duke of Edinburgh – Silver (in the process of completing)
  • Fully qualified "Barista"

Significance of Achievement to the Broader Community

William is a valued member of local community groups and his willingness to be involved in these community activities inspires other young people to become active in their local towns.
