Cabonne Receives Waste Management Report
Cabonne Council is inviting comment following the release of the draft report into waste disposal at its six landfill sites.
Mayor Kevin Duffy said the report which followed Council's "stop, look and listen" policy has revealed that Cabonne has sufficient landfill space, based on current volume, for potentially the next 35 years.
"The independent review commissioned by Council is great news for Cabonne residents" Clr Duffy said. "It shows that with improved management practices and careful management of our landfills we can manage waste well into the future" he added.
The report estimates 13,100 tonnes of waste to landfills per year would be generated in the Cabonne Council area and has indentified a closure stragtegy for the smaller landfills as they reach their capacity.
"We are releasing the draft report for public comment and input and would welcome any feedback received" Clr Duffy stated. He concluded by saying that copies of the report are available at Council's offices or at the link below.
