A citizenship ceremony, Aussie breakfasts, barbecues and family fun will be the feature of Australia Day in Cabonne Shire later this month.

A full day of celebrations is planned for Sunday 26 January 2020, starting at 8am with breakfasts at several villages and wrapping up with barbecue dinners and family picnics in the afternoon.

Cabonne’s Australia Day ambassador Peter Herbert, a producer and writer of some of Australia’s best-known television shows, will participate in ceremonies at Mullion Creek, Cargo and Canowindra where Citizens of the Year, Young Citizens of the Year and Community Groups of the Year will be announced.

Australia Day will also be celebrated at Borenore, Cudal, Cumnock, Eugowra, Manildra, Molong and Yeoval.

Mr Herbert will begin a hectic Australia Day at 8am at Mullion Creek, where there will be a community breakfast and awards ceremony. He will then travel to Cargo for the presentation of awards and morning tea at 10.30am before attending a citizenship ceremony and awards presentation at Canowindra at 1.30pm.

Mr Herbert will be accompanied by Cabonne’s Australia Day Youth Ambassador Hudson Izzard, of Canowindra, and Mayor Kevin Beatty.

Molong’s celebrations will include a damper competition and cricket match while the Sutton family relay will be part of the poolside fun at Manildra swimming pool, where there will also be a number of novelty events. People attending celebrations at Cudal are encouraged to dress as their favourite Aussie character to win a prize.
