Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty has welcomed competitors from all over the State to the 2018 NSW Sheep Dog Championships at Molong.
Hosting a morning tea for competitors, volunteers and spectators today (Wednesday 21 March 2018), Cr Beatty said working dogs have become an iconic symbol of Molong, which has proudly conducted the event for many years.
“These NSW Championships showcase the best of our sheep dogs across a number of breeds, highlighting the skills of both the dogs and their handlers,” he said.
“They have also become a key feature of Molong’s events calendar, adding much-needed dollars to our Cabonne economy.
“Competitors and spectators travel from all parts of the State to compete and I know many locals look forward to coming here to the beautiful Dr Ross Memorial Ground to see the best dogs in the State in action.”
Cr Beatty said Cabonne Council was very proud of its association with the NSW Championships and was honoured to host the morning tea and sponsor trophies for one of the categories.
“I hope everyone enjoys the next few days of competition and I encourage visitors to our region to take the opportunity to experience some of Cabonne Country’s natural beauty, quaint villages and renowned food and wine products,” he said.
