The Eugowra Solar Farm is nearing completion, with testing and commissioning underway ahead of becoming fully operational by September. Located at the Eugowra Sewer Treatment Plant, the $5.5 million project features more than 4,000 solar panels and a 5.5MWh battery storage system, capable of generating enough electricity to power approximately 537 homes each year. The solar farm is currently operating at around 200kW as part of the commissioning process, with output set to progressively increase to full capacity throughout August. Once operational, the 2.14MW facility will help reduce Council's electricity costs, generate additional revenue through surplus energy sales, support net zero goals, and strengthen the long-term financial sustainability of Council services and infrastructure. Supported by $1.5 million in NSW Government funding through the Resources for Regions Fund, the project is a significant investment in a more sustainable and energy-secure future for Cabonne.
