The 2026 Census will take place on Tuesday, 11 August, and all residents are encouraged to take part and have their say.

The Census provides a snapshot of Australia, helping build a clear picture of our communities, who we are, how we live, and what services we need now and into the future. Every response counts, and it’s important that everyone in the Cabonne region is represented.

For councils, Census data plays a critical role in planning and advocacy. The information collected is used to help secure funding, guide infrastructure investment and services, and support future planning decisions. Accurate population figures and demographic data help demonstrate the needs of local communities and ensure regions like Cabonne are properly supported.

By completing the Census, residents are helping ensure their community is visible, understood and considered when it comes to funding and decision making.

Two Census Pop up Hubs will be held in Molong and Canowindra early August. These dates are to be confirmed but will provide a great opportunity for residents to ask any questions they may have about the Census or assistance with completing it.
