Molong Water Security Pipeline Project
Published on 19 November 2025
Almost $6 million is being invested to deliver a stronger, more resilient water supply for Molong, Cumnock and Yeoval.
The Molong Water Security Pipeline Project, jointly funded by the Australian Government’s National Water Grid Fund and Cabonne Council, will replace a century-old pipeline that loses nearly 20% of water annually, ensuring reliable supply for more than 3,000 residents.
Construction is expected to start April 2026 and finish early 2027.
In addition to the new pipeline, the Australian Government has also committed $562,000 through the National Water Grid Fund to develop the Central Tablelands Regional Water Supply preliminary business case.
Cabonne Council,
Orange City Council - Wiradjuri Country
and
Central Tablelands Water
are equally contributing toward the remaining $562,000 for the $1.12 million business case to investigate the benefits of an interconnected water supply system for the region.
Thank you to Federal Minister
Murray Watt - Senator for Queensland
and NSW Minister
Rose Jackson
for their support in making these critical projects possible.
