Cabonne Council has changed its treatment processes for Molong’s water supply following algal blooms in Molong Creek Dam.

Council is acting to reduce the impact of the algal blooms caused by high temperatures and the declining level of the dam.

Residents may notice some discolouration of the town water supply along with a change in taste and odour.

However, these are due to the water treatment process to ensure Molong’s water meets health standards required.

With the hot weather and ongoing drought placing pressure on the town’s water treatment process, Molong residents are being asked to adhere to water restrictions and to continue taking water saving measures.

As the hot weather continues, temperatures up to 39 degrees are forecast for later in the week.
