Cabonne Council has switched over to the NSW Government’s OneRoad system, which will drive information directly from councils through to Live Traffic NSW.

Council is now using the service to publish real time information about traffic conditions, incidents, roadwork, hazards and major events.

Council had previously maintained road closure information in list form direct to its Facebook page and website.

Cabonne Council Mayor, Kevin Beatty welcomed the introduction and said that “under the new system, residents will be able to access the same information that was previously on the website, however it will be available via the Live Traffic website.”

“Before now, Live Traffic NSW only showed data on state owned or managed roads which only accounts for 10% of NSW roads, this can cause confusion amongst road users” Cr Beatty said.

The new system enables real-time information on traffic conditions, incidents, and major events to be shared across local, regional and state roads, making critical information available for all NSW road users.

The information provided by Cabonne Council feeds through OneRoad and across into Live Traffic and third-party apps such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze and TomTom.

“Having one place to find information regarding all roads will help keep people safe whilst travelling across the state and allows road users the ability to better plan their trips” Cr Beatty said.
