Under Cabonne Council’s Drought Management Plan, Level 4 Restrictions are triggered when there is insufficient supply in the primary water supply of the Molong Creek Dam. After taking into consideration long term rainfall forecasts for the catchment area, Cabonne Council has been required to further increase restrictions. It is considered essential that implementation occurs to maintain our ability to supply vital water to Molong Residents.

Level 4 restrictions are enforceable under the Local Government Act 1993 - Section 637 (1) “A person who wilfully or negligently wastes or misuses water from a public water supply, or causes any such water to be wasted, is guilty of an offence.” This is a finable offence of up to 20 penalty units ($220)

Cabonne Council will be monitoring water usage in the Molong village with the aim to reduce usage in the town and conserve water. This will include the monitoring of the adherence to water restrictions and serving of notices where appropriate. Council will also monitor long term forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology and flows in the Molong Creek Dam.

Cabonne Council would like to thank all consumers for utilising our water asset wisely and understanding the implications of water misuse on the community.

Your assistance in reducing your water consumption is essential to maintain sufficient supply to residents for essential household purposes.

Businesses are advised to contact Cabonne Council for information on creating a business specific Water Action Saving Plan (WSAP).

Should you require any additional information regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact Cabonne Council’s Engineering Department on 6390 7100.

Note:

WSAP - This refers to a Water Savings Action Plan, please contact Council for more information on creating a business specific WSAP.
