Projects

Cabonne Council is currently delivering a range of exciting infrastructure and community projects across the region. These initiatives aim to enhance local facilities, support economic development, and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. Below is an overview of the key projects underway.

Major Projects

Peak Hill Rd Upgrade (ROSI)
Cabonne Council is undertaking an upgrade of Peak Hill Road, a project funded under the Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative. The upgrade will cover the full 16 kilometers of Peak Hill Road within the Cabonne Council area. The project is part of the council's ongoing recovery efforts after floods, with the aim of improving infrastructure and enhancing safety.

September 2025 Update - Initial tree and vegetation clearing has now been completed as part of the Peak Hill Road upgrade. Vegetation works were required along the full length of the project, with the first 10km now finished. The remaining vegetation works will be subject to a new tender, which will be advertised in the coming weeks. Additionally, tenders for the road construction and culvert works are also being readvertised and close at 12pm, Wednesday, 24 September. View here

October 2025 Update - New tenders have been received for the construction of the 16km of Peak Hill Road. These tenders are currently being assessed.

November 2025 Update - Council has been advised that our tree and vegetation contractor will begin Stage 2 Tree and Vegetation works on Peak Hill Road from Wednesday, 19 November 2025.

These works are expected to take approximately four weeks. During this time, traffic control will be in place, with one-lane traffic operating through the work zone.

This activity is an important step in preparing the site for upcoming civil construction works as part of the Peak Hill Road upgrade.

Potable Water Project - Yeoval and Cumnock

Cabonne Council contractors have begun installing dual check valves at every property in Cumnock and Yeoval as part of the potable water upgrade.

Licensed plumbers are carrying out the work, and residents will be notified at least 24 hours before work begins at their property.

The installation, funded by Council, helps prevent potentially contaminated water from flowing back into the mains.

Water supply may be interrupted for up to two hours, and some temporary discoloration may occur.

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.

The project team has postponed turf installation until early in the new year to ensure the watering system is fully functional. Meanwhile, fencing works at the Betts Street site have been completed, including lowering the existing fence and reinstating gates.
