Cabonne Council Introduces Opt-In SMS Alerts for Local Residents

Cabonne Council is excited to launch CabonneSMS, a new opt-in SMS service designed to deliver timely and essential updates directly to residents’ mobile phones across the Local Government Area (LGA).

This service will provide alerts on important issues such as road closures and water outages, offering a more direct and convenient way for residents to stay informed, especially during urgent or unexpected events. While updates will still be available on the Council’s website and social media, CabonneSMS enhances communication by reaching people where they are.

Mayor Kevin Beatty said:

“We know our residents are spread right across the region, so CabonneSMS will allow us to take a more targeted approach to communication. Rather than relying solely on social media, our website, or VMS boards, SMS is the most direct and effective way to deliver vital information to our community quickly and reliably.”

Residents are encouraged to opt in to receive updates relevant to their location. This initiative reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to improving communication and community engagement.

Please note: CabonneSMS is a complementary service and does not replace emergency alerts issued by agencies such as the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) or Fire and Rescue NSW. Residents should continue to follow official emergency channels during critical incidents.
